OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The Oklahoma City Police and Fire Departments responded to a body found in a retention pond near Lake Overholser Thursday morning.
Police got the call around 8 a.m. after someone who wanted to fish discovered the body in the pond.
Fire crews said the body was found in a muddy area near the shoreline just off the John Kilpatrick turnpike near NW 23rd St.
Multiple first responders removed the body once the medical examiner arrived on the scene.
A man who lives nearby said he isn’t surprised a body was found in the pond as he claims people are always coming and going from the area.
“Unfortunately, it doesn’t shock me that a body’s been hidden out there or that a body was found and it’s unfortunate that there was one because there’s a lot of kids in the neighborhood,” said a nearby neighbor.
It’s not clear how the person died or their identity.
Police said there are no obvious signs of trauma. The medical examiner is now investigating.
