Eight Bangladeshi women were recently arrested for staying illegally in India with fake documents. Among those arrested included a Bangladeshi porn actress Riya Arvind Barde. Riya was arrested in Ulhasnagar of Thane district and has been charged for multiple offenses which included residing illegally in India using fake documents according to police officials who were talking to PTI.
On a tip off about the fake identity of Riya barde who was under investigation in a cheating and forgery case, the Hill Line police station in Ulhasnagar filed a FIR under various IPC sections related to cheating, forgery and common intention, along with the Foreigners Act.

The investigation into Riya Barde’s identity has been ongoing for the last one year and it was revealed that her place of birth in the birth certificate, school leaving certificate and passport was different. Her place of birth was reported as West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas, Hooghly and Achalpur in Maharashtra’s Amravati district.
Riya Barde not only fabricated her documents but also conspired to obtain a fake education certificate and passport for one of her accomplices. As reported seven more Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from different parts of Maharashtra during the course of the week for staying in the country illegally.
Riya Arvind Barde was also known as Arohi Barde and Banna Sheikh according to a report by TOI and was staying in India illegally with her mother Anjali Barde also known as Ruby Sheikh, her brother Ravindra/Riyaz Sheikh and sister Ritu/Moni Sheikh. Her mother allegedly married Arvind Barde from Amravati so that they could continue residing in the country. Police revealed that her father and mother are presently residing in Qatar. Her brother and sister are still to be traced.
Riya Arvind Barde had acted in projects by Raj Kundra productions and has also worked with performer Gehna Vashishta in several films. Riya was well-known for her work in a film called Aamras (2023).
Sangram Malkar, the police sub-inspector handling the investigation stated,
“In the probe, we found that Riya’s mother Anjali is a resident of Bangladesh and she was living illegally in India with her two daughters, including Riya, and son. Riya’s mother married Arvind Barde, a resident of Amravati, claiming to be from West Bengal. She later got an Indian passport made by submitting fake birth certificates and other fake documents for herself and the children to prove her Indian identity.”
Riya Barde was earlier arrested by Mumbai Police under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act in connection with a prostitution case.
Riya’s arrest has once again highlighted concerns regarding illegal immigration and the use of fraudulent documents in India.
